Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the high-speed corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
