Local Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the attack made him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
